Hoops: Kentucky Welcomes Ramon Harris

Tubby Smith adds another forward to this year's mix, Freshman Ramon Harris. After waiting to be cleared by NCAA, he actually dressed for the game at Louisville last weekened but didn't play. The kid is from Anchorage, Alaska; he's listed as 6-5, 219 and he'll don Patrick Sparks' old jersey number, #22.

Harris was named Class Alaska 4A Player of the Year his senior year averaging 16.3 ppg, 13.1 rpg, and 3 bpg. Other accomplishments include 2005 & 2006 State Finals MVP, 2006 Arby's Classic All-Tourny team selection, and played in four consecutive championship teams: one at Bartlett High and three consecutive at West Anchorage High School.

Tubby Smith is hoping this kid gets to help out right away, which is reason enough I suppose for Ramel Bradley to think he just might play tonight vs Santa Clara …

“I haven’t seen enough of him and his style of play, but he is a strong guy. He can definitely fill the two, three or four position. I think he may even see some playing time tomorrow.”

The Wildcat Blog welcomes Harris to the 2006 mix at Kentucky.
