Daaang, I Didn't Know There Would Be Dancers Here!

The following pic comes from Nathan Fowler at AOL's Fanhouse, and apparently this picture is circulating around the internet, and Fowler isn't so much impressed by the pic but more so by what these three coaches could be talking about with each other.

“It certainly makes you wonder though what exactly could have been discussed when ostracized former Kentucky head coach Tubby Smith sat down with Rick Barnes and Billy Donovan (one who turned down the UK job directly and another who was strongly rumored to be on Kentucky's short list). I'm going with Ashley Judd as the main talking point, but feel free to use the comment section to give your ideas.”

Well I'm not so worried at all at what the three might be talking about, I'm kinda curious myself as to what the heck the guy in the red shirt sitting just below them is thinking to himself. You know, somethin' like … Daaang, I didn't know there would be dancers here!

And the guy in the green shirt looks amused also. I don't know maybe they're watching Rick Majerus eating a buffet plate, and the guy in the white shirt is calling his best friend telling him “Dude, you have to come see this”.

U of F President Trying To Push For Playoffs

The University of Florida President Bernie Machen is pushing for a college football playoff system before Fox seeks to seal a deal to extend its current BCS contract beyond 2010.

The proposal is apparently in the rough draft stages and Machen has been talking with an “upper echelon NCAA official who he won't name” and according to Machen also, he says that the chairman of the NCAA Executive Committee, Walt Harrison, “is totally with me”.

“I think it's still a long shot but we have had two interim meetings -- one in October and one in March. At that (March) meeting I tried to make the point that this is something that if we don't deal with it, we're going to be locked into the BCS for another eight to 10 years.

Fox is pushing to renew right now. They want to renew what we have even though the deal has four more years (actually three) to run. Normally you would start the negotiation a year, 18 months from now.

There is some interest in Fox in signing us up for long (term), which would just kill it. They just want to lock up the property.

I made the pitch that if you're ever going to think about it now is the time to think about it. I can't tell you how many votes I got or anything. My pitch is simple. This is in the best interests of college football. There is a lot of money that is not on the table that could be on the table.

We need to get some serious thinking. I've talked to several of the bowls. If we're going to do it we need to give the bowls a chance to be a part of it. To be honest, the only entities to be stuck about it are the Big Ten and the Pac-10. They like their sweetheart deal with the Rose Bowl…

If the rest of us decide to go this way we'll see what they have to do. They've actually got a better deal than the rest of us with the Rose Bowl …

When I started talking about it on the floor of the stadium (at the SEC title game), I was lamenting the fact that we just won the SEC and I don't even know if we're going to the (gosh darn) BCS. It seemed ludicrous…

I'm going to meet with the NCAA because they're officially against it. I'm not going to tell you who, but I'm going to meet with the power structure before June.

SPLN: How would your playoff work?

Dr. M: Because of the baggage the NCAA has, it might hurt us to push it through the NCAA. But you could set up your own LLC (limited liability company). You could have an entity that is not part of the NCAA that would run it, but would run it with the kind of principles the NCAA uses to run the basketball thing.”

I am all for a college playoff system. In fact, AOL fav Sportz has already come up with a system I think could work using the Bowl games are part of the playoff.

Do you know what college football is missing in the post season? It's missing excitement (as well as a consistent, honest way of crowning national champs). Look at the NCAA Tourney in March, it has the excitement because every team in it has a chance, albeit for some teams a very tiny, slim chance, but they have a chance. It's not a given that if you cruise your way through your regular season schedule and conference tourney that you'll win the national championship (recent exception: Florida, ugh-yuk!), but Florida did have to work for the repeat, and regardless, the excitement was there, the hope was there - come on, don't tell me that half the people in the U.S. weren't holding on to a glimmer of hope that Florida would be ousted early.

You know why the NFL Playoffs are so kickin'? Because a freakin' wildcard team can squeeze their 8 or 9 regular season win into the playoffs and become world champs (see New England). No matter what happens in the regular season, you have to bring it to the playoffs, if you don't then your 13-3, 12-4, or 11-5 season was worthless - especially if the hype surrounded you all regular season long. There ain't nothing like the excitement of an upset (or the possibility of) putting a power-house club in its place in the post season. That's why playoffs are great and exciting.

You know why the current bowl system sucks? Because its run by rankings which is done mostly by mathematical equations which is freakin' BORING. And the bowls have become boring too, well unless your a Kentucky Wildcat fan who enjoyed the heck out of watching them upset Clemson!. Know why they're boring aside from that though? Because it's no news to anyone now that these bowls generate their “hype” in part by their sponsors now. You know what the most disgusting thing is about the bowl games now days? It's the flood of sponsorship that must be adorned every freakin' where on the field, in the commercials, on your t-shirts, on your hats, subliminalized into your heads. The excitement is hardly about the championship game anymore. I remember when the Orange Bowl was the Orange Bowl, and it was played for the national championship, and it had always had two of the best competitive teams in the nation playing for the title. No argument from me because it was always a great game. Now it's like you can't even mention the Orange Bowl without fear of being sued if you don't mention FedEx, or Tostitos in the Fiesta Bowl. The lustrous shine bowl games once had when I was growing up watching has now dulled out majorly because of corporate dollars. And honestly that's exactly what's happened. There's no more excitement in it. When I hear Sugar Bowl, I'm like, yeah, it's the Sugar Bowl, whereas when I was growing up watching it, I couldn't wait for the game to kickoff, I made a party out of it. I don't anymore. It's just another bowl game to me, and the BCS has ruined it for me. I mean if college football doesn't want a playoff system to crown our national champs, then at least lets rid of the BCS system and go back to rotating the Rose, Orange, Sugar, and Fiesta Bowls as the national championship games and it being the only final and just game to crown the champion based on the AP rankings. I liked it better that way. The current state of the NCAA football post season desperately needs some excitement built into it.

But back to Bernie Machen, it sounds like his push for a playoff system has reached an obstacle because it sounds like the BCS commissioners don't have it marked as a priority as they will primarily deal with maintenance issues with the current system in this week's meetings, but there might be some discussion of it.

The NCAA should set aside the numbers for the mathematicians, let these kids settle the national championship on the field. It's more exciting that way!

Chuck Hayes Becomes A Father

Former Kentucky favorite Chuck Hayes missed pregame warm ups vs Utah in their opening playoff series Saturday to be present for the birth of his son, Dorian Titus Hayes, six pounds, seven ounces.

Hayes did however make it to the game in which the Rockets defeated the Jazz by nine, 84-75. Hayes finished with 4 pts, 9 rebounds. Congrats Hayes, for your first playoff victory and for the birth of your new baby boy.

Hayes is not the only one playing post season action. Here are two other players I'll be following this post season:

· Kelenna Azubuike, Golden State Warriors

· Tayshaun Prince, Detroit Pistons (But I'll direct you to Need4Sheed for his coverage)

Saturday Night Video Music Pick

Another week (off week) wraps up here at the Wildcat Blog and tonight's video music picks (2) reflect the somber mood I've had since hearing what happened at Virginia Tech on Monday. I hope that you, too, have a wonderful Saturday night and are having an excellent weekend. Until next Saturday night's picks, the Wildcat Blog wishes those of you affected by the Virginia Tech tragedy have someone close to help you through the tough times. May God Bless you. Have a great Saturday night.

Metallica, Nothing Else Matters

So close no matter how far, couldn't be much more from the heart …

Here is what the week was like among my favorite blogs,

A Sea of Blue

·
(Fri) Truz discredits the Randolph Morris Loophole - there's an argument out there that's saying that college kids may start doing what Morris did, declare for the draft then back out and come back to college, and allow them to avoid rookie pay and pick the team he plays for. - I agree with Truz, it's full of imperious crap. It's a good read.

· (Tue) JL Blue offers his condolences for those affected by the Virginia Tech tragedy, and he also offers a very understandable piece on Tubby Smith. I still am a Tubby supporter and will always be, and please correct me if I'm wrong (JL Blue), but I get the feeling that JL has came to the point where he understands why some fans wanted him gone, which was the point I came to shortly after BG took over. It's ok to support Tubby while also coming to a genuine understanding of what Tubby's shortcomings were and why so many wanted him out. Tubby will always be a good coach to me though, and I'm already convinced that Gillispie will be even better than he (well, I'm strongly optimistic). It's one of JL's best pieces of late, so go read it if you haven't.

· (Thur) Thursday Truz put together a day-long recruiting update which included a link that reminded us that it was Ashley Judd's B-Day! I should've been on top of that but Ashley's kinda been out of the news lately so I've kinda let it slip by me.

Fire Rich, Nahhh

·
(Wed) From the guys who give you Fire Tubby and Fire Billy .com's, Fire Rich .com gave a shout out to me for my find of the Kentucky football team singing the UK Fight song in the locker room after beating Georgia, so I gladly return the favor, and hey thanks for link and kind words! You Rock!

Wildcats Thunder

·
(Mon) Big Daddy from Wildcats Thunder posts an anonymous poem written about the legendary Cawood Ledford. It's a nice read if you like that sort of prose. (WCB loved it!).

· (Mon) Lwcat from Wildcats Thunder posts one of the first evaluations of Gillispie's first 10 days. Nice read.

· (Tue) Bigdaddy on Tuesday was right on top of UK's newest coaching hires, Jeremy Cox and Glynn Cyprien.

· (Wed) Bigdaddy noted the NCAA's interest in banning text messaging, and I gave my thoughts on it the Monday before.

· (Thur) Then on Thursday, Fewfirstchoice from WildcatsThunder posted up his comprehensive recruiting thoughts including a mention of a mystery recruit in the fold. Interesting stuff, go take a look at it.

Kentucky Sports Radio

·
(Mon) Rob Gidel spelled out the five hottest names in Kentucky recruiting.

· (Tue) Matt Jones writes about the passing of Mike Brent who wrote for the Cats Pause and also writes that Patrick “please come to LexingtonPatterson is blogging for Slam Magazine online.

· (Wed) On Wednesday it was all about Big Woo! And he didn't disappoint either. Woo rocked the airwaves and gave Gregg Doyel a conscience check. I offered my thoughts.

· (Thur) KSR's Rob Gidel hands out Spring Practice Awards while thinking it to be ridiculous if Wildcat patrons were to not show up Saturday for the annual scrimmage at Commonwealth. I don't know, a day's drive just to see a scrimmage and then another day's drive back home, I better get special media credentials for the event, but fans in Lexington should fill the stadium. Expectations are high this year, I'd be surprised if there was a low turn out on Saturday.

· (Thur) Gerry DiNardo wonders why athletes who play with integrity and character don't get the media praise that players receive after admitting, in this instance, to smoking pot. I'm not sure I 100% agree with everything he says, I mean, I don't think Ricky Williams was glorified at all by the media, but DiNardo does make a nice interesting point: “What about all the players who told the truth and really don't use drugs? Are they glorified? You don't hear much about them.”. There does seem to be more forgiveness (aside from RW for example) to athletes who come out and honestly admit their wrong doings before being caught than there are of those praised in the media for their clean and honest career.

· (Thur) Matt Jones gives his two week overview of the Billy Clyde (I prefer Giddyup) Era.

· (Fri) Can't end a Friday any better than hearing rumors of seeing Kentucky's staff and ‘all of a sudden’ available Alex Legion eating together in a restaurant here and here. Good stuff. :::texting Matt Jones::: crap, wait, there's strange men in trench coats with the NCAA Logo on their front pockets following me. That text is going to have to wait.

Sportz

·
(Mon) Sportz posts the vid of Tim Duncan laughing and getting tossed. Look at Duncan's face, he's totally dumbfounded. LoL.

Fire Billy

·
(Wed) I really love the guys at Fire Billy (and FireTubby & FireRich), but this is pretty funny and serious at the same time. On Wednesday Fire Billy could've used a mathematician. I rank coaches on the elementary level, overall and head to head wins. I like things simple.

AOL Fanhouse

·
(Mon, Tue, Thur) Fanhouse's Nick Dallamora is actually a student at Virginia Tech. He was actually in class Monday when he received an email alerting him of ‘a shooting incident’ earlier that morning. Dallamora goes on to write four posts on the Fanhouse throughout the week about the awful tradegy that ocurred. Interesting pieces by Dallamora and I thank him for it. Check out his columns #1, #2, #3, and #4.

Well there's this week's recap of the blogs that I religiously follow. Until next time …

(Photo from MSNBC.)

I guess I'm still trying to come up with something respectful in regards to what happened at Virginia Tech. When something like this happens (Columbine, 9/11, Amish School Shooting), I find myself speechless and sick inside and wondering what the right words are to say. It's demoralizing that things like this recur in our society and so close to home these days and I begin to wonder where this world is heading if it continues on this path because in times like these its a dark, dark moment that really scares me.

I pray for peace, truth, unconditional worldwide love, compassion, and understanding for everyone who has been affected by this tragedy and any other tragedy anyone's been affected by, no matter how small or great. So many things have happened, are happening, that affect humanity, you and me, in a negative way these days, and I just pray for an end to it all, to all the madness because it's just beginning to be too much to hear or read about almost on a daily basis. I sincerely pray for everyone, in this time of grief on the Virginia Tech campus, to know you are being thought of and prayed for, and know we wish you the best of days to come. I am sorry for your loss.

The Wildcat Blog sincerely prays for the faculty, students, family, and friends of Virginia Tech in this time of mourning of such great loss. May hope, love, and forgiveness fill all of your hearts in the days to come. May God Bless you in this time of need.

Rupp Audio After Losing to Texas Western

The off season is a perfect opportunity for me to search for rare Kentucky media and related items on the net since I don't have to spend so much time following game scores, recaps, etc, and putting my own spin on things. It seems like every time I come across some rare audio or footage or UK related item that its been out there for a long while but its news to me which is the case when I came across a 5 min Audio of Rupp's Reaction after they lost to Texas Western.

As beautiful as that piece sounds, it kinda brings you back to that night, that day, that moment of college basketball history, and it's special.

It's special in a number ways because I wasn't even born during this time and I get to feel and experience a little bit of how it was back then. You can just listen to the audio and understand it's so much different now in the quality of an interview than it was back then.

Then there's Rupp's voice. The legend. The man who made Kentucky talking just like any other coach would today after a disappointing loss. It doesn't get any more special than that getting to listen and getting a feel of what he was like back then. It's just pretty cool to come across stuff like this and knowing that you're a Kentucky fan through and through. It just feels good.

There's even a short clip of the Texas Western game and immediately you notice the difference in the game calling. The long pauses of silence, the lack of conversation among the commentator(s), the lack of explaining the half court game, who's got the ball, who's throwing to who, that sort of thing, and the lack of enthusiasm compared to today's game, but it's obviously a classic clip.

Woo vs. Gregg Doyel

Kentucky Sports Radio posted up segments of their Sports Mob Radio Show where Big Woo was there in studio with them as a guest host, and I have to say when they brought on Gregg Doyel, things got pretty good. In fact, the whole Gregg Doyel segment was priceless. Here are some of the best highlights from that segment …

· Woo pulls his first question for Gregg Doyel out of his sleeve? LoL.

· Big Woo calls Jerry Tipton the Great White Shark of the crew

· Woo vs Gregg: Woo to Gregg, “You're gonna lose cause you're off the air [or over there?] and I'm on the air.”

· Gregg Doyel calls Kelenna's father a scumbag

· Doyel insinuates Woo is ugly and then insinuates that Joe Crawford is a dummy [then later informally apologizes I suppose]

“Who woulda known that there's an even bigger dummy Joe Crawford out there than the one in Lexington.”

· Doyel: “It's not fun to write about how good you are cause everybody already knows that. It's more fun to poke holes at what's wrong with you.”

· Doyel wants to see Woo and his girlfriend order food in McDonalds drive-thru.

· Woo warned Doyel that he's got a Louisville Slugger then Doyel turns around and says Woo doesn't need a L'ville Slugger cause his arms are 8ft long.

It should be said that Gregg Doyel wasn't as mean-spirited as it may seem though, both he and Woo seemed to get along and joked with each other. These were just some of the highlights of that segment which were the best. Just go take a listen.

The whole performance kinda rocked in my opinion, not bad at all, but at about the 1:50 mark, coming at the right side of the screen, watch for the UK Cheerleader in the air and falling right on her bum. Ouch! I wonder if that was Kelly Dupree? She gets up like it never happened, and then at the end watch one of the guys on the squad pull up his shirt and show his abs to the crowd and then gets pinched from behind by one of the cheerleaders. I guess showing your abs is the new ‘cool’ thing now? Anyways, check it out, it's pretty cool.

And as stated with Chuck Hayes, Azubuike, too, seems to be eyeing some playoff action with the Golden State Warriors. Of the three former Wildcat starters who played together, Rajon Rondo is the only one definitely not going to the post season. I guess the magician wasn't as magical as the Celtics would have hoped for.

Searching for some recent Azubuike media on the net, I come across this video from a Ticket Holder Party the Warriors held I assume earlier this year. Buike does a little groove thang right at the beginning, it's kinda priceless.

Where's The Humor Man?

Now I like KSR because they're practically the only fan-driven Kentucky site that has the inside track to Kentucky sports, aside from media sites. They get interviews, have legit sources, at least seem to, and well, they make a living following and talking about Kentucky, so yeah, it's a darn pretty good site to go to if you're a Kentucky fan.

Last week, I noted how Matt Jones hated Morning Radio because of songs like Gillispie. I on the other loved the parody because that's what a parody is all about, making fun of the original.
Well today I find that Matt Jones has found a better parody, about Gillispie, and I listened to the song, and honestly for me, I'm just going to have to accept that Matt Jones and I have a different opinion when it comes to parody humor because one minute into Billy G's Town I found myself in a blanketed stare and I had to shake my head, come to my senses, and turn the darn thing off.

Don't get me wrong, it is a parody, yes, and it's nice and pretty good. Good song, but it's not funny. The point of putting a parody together is to make fun of the original tune in a humorous way, I mean, Billy G's Town didn't do that for me, they minds as well just created a new song if that's their idea of a parody. Parodies to me have to at least make me smile and shake my head in shame, and Billy G's Town didn't make me do that. Nice song though.

What do you think? Billy G's Town or G-I-L-L-I-S-PIE? Leave your vote in the comments below.

NCAA Way Out Of Bounds On This One

This is really ridiculous. Seriously, at what point will the NCAA declare martial law upon its athletes?

In what seems to be a move just to remind coaches who's in charge, the NCAA is apparently entertaining the idea of passing a rule, or law or whatever, that will prohibit them from text messaging recruits.

Nevermind that this comes about two weeks after Mitch Barnhart joked that Gillispie texts about 8,000 times a month, now all of a sudden the NCAA wants to regulate Black Berry use and anything else a coach may use to 'text' their potential student athlete.
From Kentucky.com,

Two factors caused the Ivy League to sponsor the ban on text messaging. ‘Hearing from coaches all hours of the day and night is intrusive,’ said Carolyn Campbell-McGovern, associate director of the Ivy League. Then there is the cost of the phone bill when prospects send return text messages.

Really? And how many potential student athletes hear from the same coach all day long? Are we talking a majority or minority because this involves passing a measure which will affect everyone.

And the cost of the text-messaging bill? Are you serious? Does the NCAA already discipline coaches and schools for calling high school coaches on all types of phones, cell phones, rotary phones, pay phones, etc.? What type of contact does the NCAA accept as a reasonable means for coaches to recruit young kids? What about emails? Does the NCAA already or do they want to regulate emails from coaches to high schools? Technology has changed, is changing, and maybe the NCAA needs to change along with it.

Then Carolyn Campbell-McGovern goes on to say this …

“They don't know if they're going to get a scholarship,” Campbell-McGovern said. “They feel compelled to text the person back right away. Even if they're in Spanish class, they feel they have to respond right away.”

Campbell-McGovern acknowledged the Ivy League connotes a disconnect with the ‘real‘ world of college athletics. However, she said athletes in and out of the Ivy League asked for the ban.

“This is clearly the way high school students want to communicate with each other,” she said of text messaging. “It's not clear this is really the way they want to communicate with adults.”

Students feel compelled to text back to college coaches? Really? How many are we talking about? Last I heard, it was the student's right to make a decision on which school to attend, I mean unless these kids are being bribed, why would any of them feel compelled or obligated to call a coach back just because he/she text messaged him? I understand there are different maturity levels involved but what's the difference between a text message and a phone call; both get the message to the other end. Some kids, if they're really good, they'll get into a school of their choice, and some kids, yeah, they have to work harder for a scholarship offer, but I don't see the difference between a text message and a cell phone call. And most phones these days allows you to check your emails, so is the NCAA going to regulate emails too if they haven't already because if they regulate text messaging, emails will be going through the roof. It really comes down to how many high school kids are we talking about when you say they feel they have to respond right away and is it worth putting in a measure that will affect, excuse my lack of sensitivity, possibly a minority of student athletes when maybe text messaging is an important tool for coaches recruiting the top kids in the nation? If we are talking anything less than 50% then I don't think it merits the NCAA to get involved.

Text messaging is clearly the way students like to communicate with each other but it's not clear that this is the way they want to communicate with adults? Ok, are we talking adults or college coaches? And if it's not clear with you, then maybe, just maybe, the NCAA should be clear before they get involved and pass a measure regulating it.

The National Association of Basketball Coaches Deputy Executive Director Reggie Minton said their survey shows that coaches are divided among this issue but he doesn't exactly say how many is for and how many is against,

“I don't want to say it's 50/50, but that's close enough,” he [Minton] said. “Some like it the way it is. Others want it more regulated.”

No, it's not close enough. If you surveyed the coaches, then I want to know which coaches from which particular school voted which way because it does matter if a clear majority of Division 1 coaches oppose the measure. Like I said, if it's anywhere under 50%, the NCAA has no business trying to get involved in passing a ban on text messaging. It's a tool for every single coach out there, so don't punish the majority for the sake of the minority when if in reality the students aren't hindered in any way by it to begin with.

Sad thing is, if the proposal is passed it will only allow email and faxing and any other future communication technology would have to be approved first. My question is, if the measure will only allow email and faxing, then what's the difference to begin with? Most cell phones and certainly Black Berries allow you to check your emails - so why all this fuss over text messaging when you're going to be using the same device anyways to check your emails? Why are we trying to make it hard for coaches and students? Is this just a power trip for a select few in authority or is this because everyone knows now that Billy Gillispie out-does EVERYONE and the NCAA wants to level the playing field? This is really ridiculous.

Minton says even more,

“But I also know of a staff that sent 500 pieces of mail to a recruit every day,” Minton said. “At some point, we reach the absurd.”

If it doesn't hinder the student athlete and it helps both the player and coach then what business is it of ours to say it's absurd enough to ban it? The student has to have the grades to begin with, so if neither party is hurt by the other, what right do we have to say otherwise?

“He said Darius is one of their top priorities, especially for the '08 class.”

Former Rupp Asst Says Gillispie Could Be The Best UK Coach Ever

After interviewing Neil Reed, a former assistant to Adolph Rupp in the early 60's, for a documentary on Adolph Rupp, WKYT's Dick Gabriel receives an email from him where Reed writes that Gillispie may end up being the best coach Kentucky's ever had.

“Dick, I listened to his press conference and I want you to know, I was not ashamed to find myself crying. UK has a Roy Williams and a Billy Donovan who may end up being the best coach ever to lead the Cats. For two years my mind has been numbed with the query, ‘Why does A&M have a Billy Gillespie and UK doesn't?’

Get to know him. He is pure as a West Texas stream. Golly gee, I am excited and I hope UK fans realize, as an excellent old coach called from Florida to tell me, ‘The Wildcats just got a better coach than Billy Donovan, Rick Pitino, or Roy Williams, if only they can see it and get behind him.’ ”.

Reed was a coaching assistant for Kentucky during 1961-65 seasons, so Billy Gillispie might be quite honored to hear that one of Rupp's assistants from back then is backing him up and then some. Reed first heard of Gillispie back in 89 and then began following his college head-coaching career when he was at UTEP, so Reed, who recruited Louie Dampier and Pat Riley, has an eye for stardom and if he says Gillispie is that good, we Kentucky fans should be thankful Donovan didn't accept. According to Neil Reed, Kentucky just got ‘a Roy Williams and a Billy Donovan’.

This, my friends, makes me feel even better about Kentucky's future cuttin' down some nets, and we all know now how determined Giddyup has been these past couple weeks recruiting, and everything that's being said about him to what he's done in the past really makes Billy Donovan look like a second or third choice now that we're beginning to hear more and more about Gillispie's past.

This past week has been somewhat slow in terms of interesting news concerning the Wildcats but if you're Billy Gillispie, things are going at a smooth pace in terms of recruiting which was about the only news aside from the women's hoops coach resigning this past week. Here's a few highlights from my favs this past week.

KSR

· Matt Jones posted a link to their new Sports Mob Myspace site. The Sports Mob recently brought us interviews of 09 recruit GJ Vilarino and Big Woo [excellent audio]. Another highlight of the week was their post of 25 facts of Billy Gillispie which included,

9. Lists favorite song as “Missing you like Candy” by Mandy Moore.
11. Maintains that Matt Damon looks “approachable”.
19. Discovered cure for polio years before Jonas Salk; told no one.
21. Votes for Sanjaya.
22. Claims that Kentucky already has a sufficient amount of cowbell.

Good stuff, not to omit this one either.

· Fire Tubby closes its headquarters.

· However, Fire Billy reports on the rumor that Kroger execs have been fighting for Gillispie's services in the other recruiting war going on in Lexington. Interesting stuff - I wonder how the Wildcat Blog can get Gillispie as a sponsor.

· Wildcats Thunder posts a nice list of Kentucky's 08 prospects for the football team, and they're not expecting Lucas nor Patterson to land in Lexington, but I'm a little more optimistic thinking Gillispie should at least be good enough to land one of them, hopefully Lucas.

· A Sea of Blue gets the nod for post of the week in my opinion, well its very close to the KSR radio parody, but when you break a story like this, it definetly gets a reaction, and then later, ASOB poses an ethical question, is it ok for an athlete who has signed an NLOI to ask the school to release him for the purpose of following a coach.

I say yes because obviously in today's time the rule needs to be reformed because a majority of recruits do sign their LOI's, in my opinion, because of the recruiting effort of the coach's, not necessarily the school, so until the NCAA realizes that reality, they shouldn't punish the athlete who has formed a relationship with that particular coach. Reality is, kids pick a school because they get along well with the coach or because the coach has the ability to improve them, not because of the school, which puts pressure on the school to hire great coaches for the sake of their prestige, if you will, for whatever particular sport. Certainly some kids pick a school because it's the school or because mom or dad went there, but I think way moreso than not, it's because of the coach's recruiting effort, in my opinion. So I think the NCAA needs to reform that rule to benefit somehow both sides.

Well, that's it for a short and maybe a non-thorough recap of last week's highlights of my favorite blogs. The off-season has me in a bad mood, and I'm trying to finish up some Game Blog Awards that I never honestly finished, since I stopped momentarily in January, but I'm lookin' to close the season off with some awards officially, and hopefully I can get them up soon while I wait for Gillispie and Kentucky to close out this 07-08 recruiting class with hopefully some great news like we all hope for.

With Success Comes ...

… Um, comes … higher ticket prices?

Not by much though, well, at least with Kentucky Football. The University of Kentucky will be increasing 07-08 football season ticket prices by less than a dollar. Which hey, they did win a bowl game last year and this year with expectations rising it wouldn't hurt to dip into your change cup to support Rich Brooks' effort to put Kentucky football back on the map for good. No?

07-08 Sideline Season Tickets -- $248
Endzone Season Tickets -- $199
Single Game Tickets -- $30

The Men's Hoops Prices will soar to an xtra 6 bucks my fellow Big Blue Nation friends. On the contrary though, five other schools with competitive fan interest are still higher than Kentucky's, so even though it's a pretty big raise in ticket prices, overall it's really not that bad [but who am I to say, I'm not one of the lucky ones owning season tickets at Rupp].

Season Tickets at

Duke -- $500-1200
Kansas -- $945
Conn -- $660
UNC -- $535
UCLA -- $476-656

Kentucky's Men's Basketball 07-08 Ticket Prices

Lower Level Season Tickets -- $594
Upper Level Season Tickets -- $504
Single Game {Lower Level} -- $33
Single Game {Upper Level} -- $28

With Gillispie in town and impressed with the returning talent, I have a feeling the raise in prices will barely be felt. But this is basketball we're talking about, even the roundball is saying giddyup!

What's All The WOO-ing About?

Last night Kentucky Sports Radio released the audio clip of their interview of Big Woo via the Sports Mob, and I have to say that for about 18 min, I enjoyed it [it's 18 min long]. Big Woo is so humble, I think that's what I like about him. That and his accent. I could listen to him all day long. {I really hope I'm not forming a man crush here}. Go Listen!.

And later on last night, which I haven't gotten a chance yet to listen to but will, Matt Jones posts up the audio clip of their interview of DeAndre Jordan. I'm sure that will be interesting; I'm looking forward to hearing it.

That Ain't Right!

Found this pic at Perpetual State of Bliss, a sign in Dawson Springs, Ky.

Now I'm a Tubby supporter, but I've gotten over him leaving, so I have to say just 3 dollars? I know how much a large with everything on it can cost and 3 dollars ain't much man. You'd figure if they were a Tubby supporter, they'd probably add 3 dollars to the cost of any large pizza.

You Know Who Steve Yanda Is?

(Photo: From the Marquette Tribune article, credit: Allison Kerfeld)

Well, you just might wanna be interested in this.

I found this yesterday at the spectacular A Sea of Blue, and afterwards I found myself in anger management in my local community clinic. I have an appointment with my doctor filled throughout April.

It might be interesting to know as fans as we glue our lives to the updated news of 07, 08, and yes even 09 verbals{<---Great interview with GJ Vilarino via KSR}, that some guy writing on Marquette basketball has recently written a column which describes the Kentucky Basketball head coaching job, a “Sucka” job. Yanda, the author, never really explains why the so-called article that's supposed to be about how happy Marquette should be that Tom Crean is staying at Marquette rather than possibly going to Kentucky has turned into a Kentucky-filled, ill-willed article about the the “second rate death trap” hoops program in Lexington.

He tries to be funny/sarcastic at the expense of turning fiction into non-fiction like saying how sooooo many head coaches and half of Hollywood's residents have turned down the job before Gillispie accepted. Friends, this is blogworthy because this is a guy who is getting paid in the 'real' media to write articles about his team yet comes across as an amateur blogger to me. It's worth noting. My niece has written better fiction with crayola-filled illustrations.

So what was A Sea of Blue's reaction to the article {Truz broke article to us yesterday afternoon} ? Well, they took it upon themselves to speak for the rest of us, an A+ effort in my opinion, check it out …

‘Dear Mr. Yanda:

Thank you for your article published today in the Marquette Tribune. Like you, we are thankful that your coach, Tom Crean, was able to avoid the ... how did you put it again? ... the "deathtrap" that is the head coaching position at our beloved flagship university, although probably for different reasons.

We here at Kentucky have forever been grateful for Al McGuire, the only real coach Marquette University has ever had. Of course, as the coach who led Marquette to its one and only national championship, we could truly appreciate coach McGuire, and unlike you, he returned that appreciation. His famous quote about Kentucky basketball, "They had it before you; they had it during you; they'll have it when you're gone." still rings true today, and no acerbic declamation from "sports writers" like yourself can possibly change that.

Our understanding down here, and in the sports media everywhere, was that coach Crean would have crawled over broken glass all the way from Milwaukee to Lexington if we had so much as batted our eyelashes in his general direction. We understand, but perhaps you should tell him for us that coaches, like women, are less desirable when they are easy to get.

Kentucky fans have mostly thought well of Marquette because of coach McGuire, and I don't think we are inclined to think less of the Golden Eagles despite your piteous attempt at sarcasm. Perhaps it would be more appropriate if you would simply thank us for our "magnanimity", and save the bitter derision for a subject upon which you are more qualified to comment.

Thanking you once again, and wishing you incurably afflicted with the smallest, stubbornest and most uncomfortable of all genital parasites, we remain

Yours in superiority,

The Big Blue Nation” -- A Sea of Blue
If you look closely at the comments at A Sea of Blue you'll find mine, which you should be able to figure out. I just want to give a huge props to Truz and A Sea of Blue, it's typical of them to find stories like this for us, they are always on top of things, so the Wildcat Blog salutes them for this find.

Now, go read it, and sign yourself up for anger management!

I bet you know who Steve Yanda is now.

“Oh, and as for the Wildcats? They named Gillispie their new head coach Friday morning. His welcoming present was a gift sack with some rope in it - just enough for him to hang himself.” -- Steve Yanda
I guess we'll see who gets a gift sack of Writing For Dummies, Pre-Amateur Editions.

If You Ain't Got No Coach, Take Ur Broke Broke...

H O O O O M E!!! … RoTfLmFa0!!!

Via Kentucky Sports Radio, Mr. Matt Jones calls this song, if you wanna call it that, the reason why he hates morning radio. Me, on the other hand, this is why I LOVE morning radio because there ain't nothing like listening to a bunch of dumba*^$# that make you spit out your morning beverage all over your freshly dried polo on your way to work to start your day. Hey, at least you have something to talk about when you get to work and at least you feel a little smarter after hearing something so ridiculous. It's an ego-booster. People are actually dumber and more stupid - who woulda known?

I, however, relish parodies because I like to think I'm a decent parody writer - I just don't go recording them. THAT'S A BIG DIFFERENCE. I've written probably close to 30 parodies in my lifetime, with a maybe a handful that have been, according to my friends and family as, really really morning radio great, but I've never shared them with anyone because, well, I have low esteem with that sorta stuff, but when I hear parodies, any kind, they're just funny to me, they bring a smile to my face, even if they're just plain stupid because I know how much stupid filled hours have been poured into putting one together and if the parody bombs, then you're even that much more stupid. And that's what's sometimes is funnier. Ha!

One good site online, if it's still active, is called Am I Right.com which is a site solely for posting original parodies and even your own recordings now. Excellent site.

But back to Kentucky Sports Radio, check out the Kentucky parody from a local morning radio show. I think it's hilarious!

Mashburn with ESPN

This may not be news to the most die-hard Kentucky fans, but it was to me when I saw Jamal Mashburn as an NBA analyst on ESPN. Mashburn retired from the NBA in 06 after having knee problems and after being on the inactive list the whole 05-06 season. I have to be honest with you, I haven't followed Mashburn's career as closely as the average Kentucky fan possibly has, but I think it's good he's in broadcasting. He's articulate, well spoken, and he's someone who knows what he's talking about - he's played the game. So good luck to Jamal Mashburn, here's to hoping that he rises up the ranks with ESPN and becomes one of the best ESPN has ever had.
He also writes at ESPN.com's Daily Dime page where he has written several columns already. In his DD Column, he talks about why Kobe Bryant is the league's MVP. It's kinda funny too, he talks about Kobe having an off night scoring 23 points. Yeah, even though it snapped a 5-game streak of scoring 40 pts, when you're describing a guy's performance as an off-night after scoring 23 pts, then maybe Kobe should be the league's MVP.

The sound quality is terrible, terrible, terrible, but here's a sample of Mashburn in action on ESPN, {not the segment I saw last night} …

And here are some links to Mashburn's other columns he's written over at ESPN,

Everyone's Gotta Have A FaThEaD

Think Fast, Too Slow!

I saw a commercial, not necessarily this one, for Fatheads the other day and while I was thinking how cool it would be to have a life-size Brett Favre stuck to the side of my bedroom wall, or even if I could find just the Green Bay Logo, I started thinking how cool it would be if they came up with college fatheads. Well, they do! After going to there website, they not only have NFL & College fatheads, but they have of course NBA, NHL, NASCAR, MLB and freakin' Star Wars fatheads! And I'm not sure what a swimsuit fathead will be about but if it has anything to do with SI's Swimsuit models … ok, ok, ok I'm a jerk, but it might seem fathead.com might be trying to target the pre-puberty adolescent boy consumer audience with the swimsuit edition, although I'm pretty sure it would sell confidently without them.

Me? Well, I'm all about Kentucky of course [right, LoL]. How dare I think about having a life-size swimsuit model stuck to the side of my bedroom wall staring at me with her seductive eyes while I'm sleeping before I stick a more than life-size University of Kentucky logo on my wall first! I mean, too bad they won't come out with say a life-size fathead of Rondo stealing the ball because the NCAA won't allow college players to make money off of them, but a sweet logo like this stuck to the side of my wall is cool enough man! [Hint: This would be a cool b-day or Christmas present if anyone's reading].

Right about now, I'm thinking a life-size Giddyup Gillispie stuck to the side of my living room wall as I watch Kentucky games next season would be kinda sweet. What about you?

Saturday Night Video Music Pick

Here is your weekly Saturday Night Video Music Pick brought to you by, who else, the Wildcat Blog, every Saturday Night around 9-10pm.

It's more common during Kentucky hoops off-season than turning down a Kentucky head coaching job!

Let's Go!

Around the world of the WCB's Favorites, here's the latest that's being said at this hour …

AOL Fav, Sportz, ponders why the NBA just doesn't get rid of the divisions and just quite simply put the top 16 teams regardless of division or conference into the post-season play. Although I like the idea, that's just asking too much of a change and I don't see that ever happening.

A Sea of Blue is trying to find something worthwhile to do since hoops season is over, and it's not baseball (UK kicking some butt at the moment) and it's not football (ASOB is understandably cautiously excited), and yeah, I'm ready for Midnight Madness - but this time of year, it usually involves a blender and crushed ice and then waking up in the bathroom.

Messenger, from Wildcats Thunder, looks ahead with next season with Giddyup Gillispie heading BB Nation which will probably take 2-3 years of recruiting to get Kentucky back near the top. I'm not sure I agree, it might take longer, but I certainly agree that that will be the expectation of many fans to start seeing some improvement.

If you haven't caught the Fire Billy bug, well go get fired up! The genius Fake Gimel Martinez explains it all.

The author of the above Fire Billy blog also authors and owns Fire Tubby also. He explains in his last post that without question they did not want to fire Tubby. Same sentiment here.

And finally over at Kentucky Sports Radio, they update us on how the freshmen played at spring practice and he (Matt Jones) promises we fans will love AJ Stewart when he gets to Kentucky. Hmm.

Well, that's most of the latest going on around my favorite blogs. Know other Kentucky blogs that deserve my attention? Then Email Me or leave me a comment with your linkage - I promise to check it out.

Now it's late Sat. night, this guy is closing things up. Enjoy the rest of the weekend.

Gillispie Interview With WKYT

Here's a nice 12 min interview clip of Lexington's local coverage of Billy Gillispie's introduction as Kentucky's new head basketball coach.

Update: Having problems seeing the vid? I am, but here's a link to the vid on Google - Billy Gillispie Interview

If you were by chance one who missed the live online streaming of the event yesterday, here are some more links for you …

· UK Pep Rally 1

· UK Pep Rally 2

· UK Pep Rally 3

Sarcasm At Broadband Speed!

By way of Wildcats Thunder, the geniuses from Fire Tubby bring us Fire Billy just in time to celebrate the new Kentucky head basketball coach. While I didn't see this coming, it makes sense that it did, and the Fake Gimel Martinez explains why.

From Firebilly.com

“Seriously, we do not want to fire University of Kentucky men’s basketball head coach Billy Gillispie.

So why is the name of the site firebilly.com, you ask? To keep it away from some crazy UK fans, we answer.

You see, approximately 95% of UK’s fanbase are just awesome. They cheer hard for great effort on and off the court, they are proud of the history of the program and support it with undying love. But that other 5% are either too passionate or are just plain nuts. They’re the folks who call in on local radio sports shows and decry the coaching staff and players, even after a win. They’re the ones who jump online and make terrible videos calling for a head coach’s dismissal.

And when Coach Billy Clyde has a tough loss — those tough losses come to everybody — they’ll be calling in talk shows and writing hateful Internet posts. And one of them might want to do something stupid like buy firebilly.com and make an actual hate site against the coach.

So, we buy firebilly.com and make it a pro-UK and pro-Gillispie site. Take that, Crazy 5%!”

So ch-ch-ch-chill! It's one of those opposite blogs, fire means not fire, and if it means to really fire, like strike a match and fire, then that means to water, and to water means to fire in which case ... aww heck, just go to the dang site, THEY LOVE GIDDYUP GILLISPIE!!!

There, are we clear yet?

07 Recruit Mike Williams 2 Min Interview

Here's Kentucky recruit Center, Mike Williams in an interview talking about his thoughts on Tubby leaving after signing his letter of intent. The kid seems pretty happy that he'll be playing in Lexington. Cool three-minute interview, he sounds anxious to meet Kentucky's new head coach. As for Jai Lucas and/or Patrick Patterson, well, I'm anxiously awaiting if Gillispie giddyups here and can influence either kid to come play at UK.

Kentucky's Top 10 Rumors!

Well, since Kentucky has finally found their coach, it ends an insane two week period searching for one, especially if you're a Kentucky fan. Everywhere you turned there were rumors galore, I mean, there were so many rumors left and right that someone had to be right. From Billy's wife is looking at houses in Lexington to there's a deal on the table for Billy D but he's waiting to sign it after the season concludes, to Rick Pitino advising Donovan to not take the job because he doesn't want to play him, there were definitely some wacky ones floating around.

Me, well, I'm just glad I didn't pop a vein through the ordeal. One thing I learned though, and it's been said before, EVERYONE's GOT SOURCES when there's a coaching search as big as Kentucky's was. So to celebrate the two-week survival, here's my Top 10 list of reported rumors during Kentucky's two-week search for their next head basketball coach …

Top 10 Reported Rumors During Kentucky's Search For Their Next Head Basketball Coach

#10 Mickie DeMoss will be the next head coach and Kentucky will turn into an all-girls school and Ashley Judd will be president.

#9 Kenny Walker wonders why his name isn't among the potential coaches for Kentucky's next head basketball coach and vows to put his resume on TV for the whole interview the next time Cold Pizza comes a calling.

#8 In a joint effort to save Kentucky basketball, the University of Louisville and the University of Kentucky will merge and will be the first school to have two head coaches, Rick Pitino and Billy Donovan.

#7 Mitch Barnhart reportedly has Saul Smith on top of his coaching wish-list to keep the Tubby Smith legacy going in Lexington.

#6 Pitino is looking at vacation homes in Gainesville, quoted as saying he's looking forward to playing Kentucky twice a year now.

#5 The University of Kentucky has reportedly approved a measure that will free up 30 million dollars for the remodeling of the next Kentucky head basketball coach's office.

#4 Dick Vitale and Jay Bilas get in a parking lot fight outside of ESPN studios. When asked why he kicked Vitale in the man sack, Bilas replies, “I kept telling him that Kentucky is a great opportunity for Billy D and then Dickie held his ears shut and kept repeating ‘Kentucky fans suck!’, so I man sacked him one for Big Blue!”.

#3 A mysterious plane left the Gainesville area heading to Lexington days before Billy Donovan announced he was staying at the University of Florida. It was later reported that it was Tubby Smith on the plane flying back home from a family vacation. He forgot he was coaching Minnesota.

#2 Barnhart to announce that Cats Pause will pick Kentucky's next head coach via their online message board, subscription required.

#1 Rex Chapman will be the next Kentucky head coach, but only if he dates white girls.

Giddyup Gillispie Rides In Lexington

Billy “Giddyup” Gillispie is now officially a Wildcat. With a smile he took questions from the media this afternoon shortly after the pep rally welcoming him to Lexington. Of the things I enjoyed hearing coming out of his mouth, it was that Gillispie intends on recruiting the biggest, tallest, most athletic & talented recruits and let performance, not anything else, dictate who plays what position. He intends to giddyup Kentucky's offense, wanting to score more off of transition, and apply more full court and man to man press. That all sounds great, but at this point, saying and doing are completely different things. Giddyup Gillispie will still have to prove to me and others that he's capable to turn around, even though he said Kentucky doesn't need much turning around, a more stalled program than a declining one before he earns my praise, but I'm anxiously awaiting nothing but improved play, players, recruits, and getting back to dominance in the SEC to shut these anti-Kentucky fans up and show them how foolish they all are for assuming Kentucky basketball is at its end.

The Wildcat Blog welcomes Billy Gillispie to Kentucky, and here's to at least 7 fruitful seasons, owning what is ours which is the SEC, and maybe a few Final Four's, and hopefully at least one national championship before it's time to renegotiate his contract.

And coach Gillispie, please accept my official nickname for you as I give to some of the players every year. I'm looking forward to winning every stinking rivalry game too!

Welcome to Lexington, Billy “Giddyup” Gillispie! LIVEBLUE

WCB's New Sidebar Features

Sounds like Mitch Barnhart has found his man, so the Wildcat Blog is anxiously awaiting the press conference to see who our next head coach is.

Aside from all the madness which has been the Kentucky search the past couple weeks, I have added a few features to the blog which I think are cool and I hope are helpful to my readers. At the top of my sidebar you'll see a link to 'favorite' my blog on your technorati favs list. Technorati is a free service online you can sign up for which will put your favorite blogs [or blogroll] all in one place and updates them for you when they're new posts.

On down my sidebar you'll see three or four news items which have been tailored by me specifically for Kentucky themed news. I'll add more to the search list as relevant items pertaining to Kentucky become popular.

And lastly at the bottom of my sidebar, you can browse my favorite blogs or even search my favorite blogs at Technorati. It's just a cool way to share with others the sites I regularly visit. I hope to add more in the future, and I hope at least some of my readers find it cool and helpful. And if you have a blog already, if you visit Technorati and sign up to use their service, drop me a comment, or email me, and I'll add you to my list. And if you have a Kentucky related blog, I really hope you let me know about it so I can add you to my small list of Kentucky blogs I have now. Thanks.

Here's to hoping Kentucky has found their guy as next basketball coach. I've a special post coming later today after UK's press conference/announcement, so come back!

Relax, Don't Do It

Before I hit my head against the side of the house while waiting on Donovan to patiently come to a decision, I'll try to relax a little, as maybe some of you should, too. After all, it's not like there's a couple recruits waiting to make a decision too is there? Relax with me.

I really need a life, man.

Update: Via the news links on my sidebar now, [how foolish of me not to check], but it looks like Billy Boy is staying at Florida.

Ra Smooth Droppin Rhymes Live!

Via Kentucky Sports Radio, Matt Jones reports that Ramel “Smooth” Bradley will be performing tonight in a mini-concert held at the Triple Crown Lounge in Lexington.

If you haven't heard Bradley's rap skills, you can check it out on his My Space Profile. Out of the three song samples he provides there, Just The Life, Ring The Alarm, and Myspace Freestyle, Just The Life which has a cool beat and a tight melody is by far the best among them, and I can see it being played on radio, I think it's that good. Go check it out when you can.

You can go to KSR's Smooth In Concert comment section for tonight's event info if you're in the area and interested in attending. Here's to hoping that the guys at KSR record some footage and post some of it on YouTube for us to see. Cross you fingers!

P.S. If anyone has or can get the lyrics to 'Just The Life', please send them my way. I would appreciate it.

I'm Pretty Sure, Maybe, Allegedly...

… that this vid was tampered with. Via Fire Tubby

Making fun of their own reporting mishap when LEX 18 reported a rumor of a deal between Billy Donovan and Kentucky to be fact from Cats Pause, the guys at LEX 18 Sports have a laugh at their own expense, and they did a wonderful job at it! It's really quite priceless, and the whole thing actually proves to us all that news people are human too, huh?

Just wait till the end when they report that Tubby Smith never actually accepted the Minnesota job, that it was all an April Fool's joke on Big Blue Nation and that somehow, some way, all of this has relevant meaning and purpose to what is happening on ABC's hit show Lost to be later revealed in Lost's Season 4 Finale.

Just. Kidding.

Gator Boys Finally Show Me Something Real, And Can We Get A New Theme Song Soon?

Photo from NCAA.com

Congratulations to the Florida Gators. They won dominantly and well deserved. Billy Donovan - great coach. Great. His game plan to wear down Greg Oden and force Ohio St. to use him all game long at the expense of Joakim Noah's game time/involvement really shows how great of a coach Billy Boy is.

All year long, one of the things that irritated me about the Gators were their lack of humbleness, at least when they were in front of cameras, and their abundance of cockiness as if everyone were against them. Yeah I realize it's probably a psychological trick they play on themselves to stay motivated, and now that these kids have won two-straight, they'll probably become even more arrogant unfortunately, and maybe that's just, but come on, at least show us 10 seconds of humbleness without spouting off at the lip that this is for those that disrespect and hate you. Maybe people hate you because you think and act like they hate you.

However, one of the best things I saw out of the Gators last night came from two guys who finally for once in two years while claiming two national championships showed to the world that they are human and have real emotions that we all can relate to.

When Corey Brewer gave a shout out to his dad and he looked like he was holding back some tears, that connected with me. When Joakim Noah ran up the stands after the game to hug his mom and hid his face into her shoulders, we all saw a different side of Noah probably for the very first time. That connected with me. I actually felt like I knew what he was feeling rather than feeling on the defensive when he'd talk about how people 'hate' on him and the Gators. Everytime I'd see him or any of the Gators in the news, it always had a negative conotone to it. I don't know, maybe it's just me, but for the first time I saw a couple Gators after winning their second straight national title become a bit humble, no matter how subtle it was, and become a bit more 'real' to me than what they have otherwise projected out to the public for more than two years, and it was nice to see for a change.

And with that said, my sincere congratulations to the University of Florida and its fans for a remarkable, history-making season and their second-straight national title.

But I have just one more thing to complain about. The tourny was fine, it's cool, but when the game was over, I couldn't turn off the tv quick enough before they played that terrible 'One Shining Moment' celebration, or whatever you wanna call it. Seriously NCAA, can we find a better song because one, this one is worn out like a cassette tape and two, it's honestly just a lame, lame, lame song. It sounds like a song you'd hear on a Disney Channel movie. It's really lame.

Can we get some Guns'N Roses? Maybe some REM, Live, or even a 3-minute Blue Man Group clip would do better than that song they play at the end of every national championship now. There are better songs that my grandmother would listen to than that song. Seriously, the next meeting the NCAA gets, could they bring it up for a vote? I can't honestly understand how every single person loves this song as a 'signature' end to the tournament. And I'm not the only one who's tired of the song either.

Milli Vanilli would be an upgrade.

Congrats again to Florida; they've done what every single college team strives for. Oh, and hey Billy … you know you're going to be a very much richer man no matter what happens now, but when exactly is it ok for you to talk now about the Kentucky job?

Come on man, there's no excuse to stall now.

06-07 Cheerleading: Who's Hot?

I took a look at the Dance Team's roster, it's only fair that I take a look now at the Cheerleading Squad.

As good as the Kentucky's history is in hoops, the University of Kentucky's Cheerleading team has just as much, if not more, to cheer and be glad about. They have 15 National College Cheerleading Championships, more than any school, so they have a right to be just as proud and have a right to be just as respected by anyone else as Kentucky basketball is.

Comprised of two teams, Blue and White, here are four cheerleaders from the 06-07 squads, two from both squads, who I think are just down right gorgeous. Again, it's a subjective thing, so lower the hand before you feel the need to slap me in the face or send me that hate email. And really, if you feel the need, tell me if I have bad taste or not.
