It's All Love, What? Give It Up, What? Shouldn't Matter, Shouldn't Matter, Shouldn't Matter, Shouldn't Matter!

Saturday Night Video Music Pick, [Late Sunday Edition], v1.2

I was going to post this last night but you know how things happen, so here it is for a Sunday edition - sponsored by, Guitar Hero. Dude, I'm a rock star now, just without the groupies.

This Week's Notable Song's In My Head

· Rob Thomas, Little Wonders, [Meet The Robinson's]
· Wolfmother, Woman, [Guitar Hero 2 Wiki, Guitar Hero Site]
· It's Gillispie!, LoL!

This past week has been somewhat slow in terms of interesting news concerning the Wildcats but if you're Billy Gillispie, things are going at a smooth pace in terms of recruiting which was about the only news aside from the women's hoops coach resigning this past week. Here's a few highlights from my favs this past week.

KSR

· Matt Jones posted a link to their new Sports Mob Myspace site. The Sports Mob recently brought us interviews of 09 recruit GJ Vilarino and Big Woo [excellent audio]. Another highlight of the week was their post of 25 facts of Billy Gillispie which included,

9. Lists favorite song as “Missing you like Candy” by Mandy Moore.
11. Maintains that Matt Damon looks “approachable”.
19. Discovered cure for polio years before Jonas Salk; told no one.
21. Votes for Sanjaya.
22. Claims that Kentucky already has a sufficient amount of cowbell.

Good stuff, not to omit this one either.

· Fire Tubby closes its headquarters.

· However, Fire Billy reports on the rumor that Kroger execs have been fighting for Gillispie's services in the other recruiting war going on in Lexington. Interesting stuff - I wonder how the Wildcat Blog can get Gillispie as a sponsor.

· Wildcats Thunder posts a nice list of Kentucky's 08 prospects for the football team, and they're not expecting Lucas nor Patterson to land in Lexington, but I'm a little more optimistic thinking Gillispie should at least be good enough to land one of them, hopefully Lucas.

· A Sea of Blue gets the nod for post of the week in my opinion, well its very close to the KSR radio parody, but when you break a story like this, it definetly gets a reaction, and then later, ASOB poses an ethical question, is it ok for an athlete who has signed an NLOI to ask the school to release him for the purpose of following a coach.

I say yes because obviously in today's time the rule needs to be reformed because a majority of recruits do sign their LOI's, in my opinion, because of the recruiting effort of the coach's, not necessarily the school, so until the NCAA realizes that reality, they shouldn't punish the athlete who has formed a relationship with that particular coach. Reality is, kids pick a school because they get along well with the coach or because the coach has the ability to improve them, not because of the school, which puts pressure on the school to hire great coaches for the sake of their prestige, if you will, for whatever particular sport. Certainly some kids pick a school because it's the school or because mom or dad went there, but I think way moreso than not, it's because of the coach's recruiting effort, in my opinion. So I think the NCAA needs to reform that rule to benefit somehow both sides.

Well, that's it for a short and maybe a non-thorough recap of last week's highlights of my favorite blogs. The off-season has me in a bad mood, and I'm trying to finish up some Game Blog Awards that I never honestly finished, since I stopped momentarily in January, but I'm lookin' to close the season off with some awards officially, and hopefully I can get them up soon while I wait for Gillispie and Kentucky to close out this 07-08 recruiting class with hopefully some great news like we all hope for.
