Giddyup Gillispie Rides In Lexington

Billy “Giddyup” Gillispie is now officially a Wildcat. With a smile he took questions from the media this afternoon shortly after the pep rally welcoming him to Lexington. Of the things I enjoyed hearing coming out of his mouth, it was that Gillispie intends on recruiting the biggest, tallest, most athletic & talented recruits and let performance, not anything else, dictate who plays what position. He intends to giddyup Kentucky's offense, wanting to score more off of transition, and apply more full court and man to man press. That all sounds great, but at this point, saying and doing are completely different things. Giddyup Gillispie will still have to prove to me and others that he's capable to turn around, even though he said Kentucky doesn't need much turning around, a more stalled program than a declining one before he earns my praise, but I'm anxiously awaiting nothing but improved play, players, recruits, and getting back to dominance in the SEC to shut these anti-Kentucky fans up and show them how foolish they all are for assuming Kentucky basketball is at its end.

The Wildcat Blog welcomes Billy Gillispie to Kentucky, and here's to at least 7 fruitful seasons, owning what is ours which is the SEC, and maybe a few Final Four's, and hopefully at least one national championship before it's time to renegotiate his contract.

And coach Gillispie, please accept my official nickname for you as I give to some of the players every year. I'm looking forward to winning every stinking rivalry game too!

Welcome to Lexington, Billy “Giddyup” Gillispie! LIVEBLUE
