You Know Who Steve Yanda Is?

(Photo: From the Marquette Tribune article, credit: Allison Kerfeld)

Well, you just might wanna be interested in this.

I found this yesterday at the spectacular A Sea of Blue, and afterwards I found myself in anger management in my local community clinic. I have an appointment with my doctor filled throughout April.

It might be interesting to know as fans as we glue our lives to the updated news of 07, 08, and yes even 09 verbals{<---Great interview with GJ Vilarino via KSR}, that some guy writing on Marquette basketball has recently written a column which describes the Kentucky Basketball head coaching job, a “Sucka” job. Yanda, the author, never really explains why the so-called article that's supposed to be about how happy Marquette should be that Tom Crean is staying at Marquette rather than possibly going to Kentucky has turned into a Kentucky-filled, ill-willed article about the the “second rate death trap” hoops program in Lexington.

He tries to be funny/sarcastic at the expense of turning fiction into non-fiction like saying how sooooo many head coaches and half of Hollywood's residents have turned down the job before Gillispie accepted. Friends, this is blogworthy because this is a guy who is getting paid in the 'real' media to write articles about his team yet comes across as an amateur blogger to me. It's worth noting. My niece has written better fiction with crayola-filled illustrations.

So what was A Sea of Blue's reaction to the article {Truz broke article to us yesterday afternoon} ? Well, they took it upon themselves to speak for the rest of us, an A+ effort in my opinion, check it out …

‘Dear Mr. Yanda:

Thank you for your article published today in the Marquette Tribune. Like you, we are thankful that your coach, Tom Crean, was able to avoid the ... how did you put it again? ... the "deathtrap" that is the head coaching position at our beloved flagship university, although probably for different reasons.

We here at Kentucky have forever been grateful for Al McGuire, the only real coach Marquette University has ever had. Of course, as the coach who led Marquette to its one and only national championship, we could truly appreciate coach McGuire, and unlike you, he returned that appreciation. His famous quote about Kentucky basketball, "They had it before you; they had it during you; they'll have it when you're gone." still rings true today, and no acerbic declamation from "sports writers" like yourself can possibly change that.

Our understanding down here, and in the sports media everywhere, was that coach Crean would have crawled over broken glass all the way from Milwaukee to Lexington if we had so much as batted our eyelashes in his general direction. We understand, but perhaps you should tell him for us that coaches, like women, are less desirable when they are easy to get.

Kentucky fans have mostly thought well of Marquette because of coach McGuire, and I don't think we are inclined to think less of the Golden Eagles despite your piteous attempt at sarcasm. Perhaps it would be more appropriate if you would simply thank us for our "magnanimity", and save the bitter derision for a subject upon which you are more qualified to comment.

Thanking you once again, and wishing you incurably afflicted with the smallest, stubbornest and most uncomfortable of all genital parasites, we remain

Yours in superiority,

The Big Blue Nation” -- A Sea of Blue
If you look closely at the comments at A Sea of Blue you'll find mine, which you should be able to figure out. I just want to give a huge props to Truz and A Sea of Blue, it's typical of them to find stories like this for us, they are always on top of things, so the Wildcat Blog salutes them for this find.

Now, go read it, and sign yourself up for anger management!

I bet you know who Steve Yanda is now.

“Oh, and as for the Wildcats? They named Gillispie their new head coach Friday morning. His welcoming present was a gift sack with some rope in it - just enough for him to hang himself.” -- Steve Yanda
I guess we'll see who gets a gift sack of Writing For Dummies, Pre-Amateur Editions.

No prob tru. It still irks me but I'll eventually get over it, I mean to each their own, right? But he really should've realized that when you critize Kentucky basketball...to the extent he did...you're also inviting Big Blue Nation to react. I really just don't understand his need to trash UK like he did, I mean, did UK not accept his application at student affairs or something?

This guy must be related to Louisville's own Terry Meiners. Your remember his Pie in the Sky article a few years back, don't you. It was all about the people of Eastern Kentucky and to this day I do not listen to any radio on WHAS, 7 years and counting.
