Rupp Audio After Losing to Texas Western

The off season is a perfect opportunity for me to search for rare Kentucky media and related items on the net since I don't have to spend so much time following game scores, recaps, etc, and putting my own spin on things. It seems like every time I come across some rare audio or footage or UK related item that its been out there for a long while but its news to me which is the case when I came across a 5 min Audio of Rupp's Reaction after they lost to Texas Western.

As beautiful as that piece sounds, it kinda brings you back to that night, that day, that moment of college basketball history, and it's special.

It's special in a number ways because I wasn't even born during this time and I get to feel and experience a little bit of how it was back then. You can just listen to the audio and understand it's so much different now in the quality of an interview than it was back then.

Then there's Rupp's voice. The legend. The man who made Kentucky talking just like any other coach would today after a disappointing loss. It doesn't get any more special than that getting to listen and getting a feel of what he was like back then. It's just pretty cool to come across stuff like this and knowing that you're a Kentucky fan through and through. It just feels good.

There's even a short clip of the Texas Western game and immediately you notice the difference in the game calling. The long pauses of silence, the lack of conversation among the commentator(s), the lack of explaining the half court game, who's got the ball, who's throwing to who, that sort of thing, and the lack of enthusiasm compared to today's game, but it's obviously a classic clip.
