November Game Blog Award

I guess if you were to recap the month of November for the Wildcats you could pretty much say they won the games they should and didn't win the games they could. Although I'm likely to inlude the Dec 2'nd game at UNC in that statement, the month of November had Kentucky playing three straight games as part of the Maui Invitational, playing five games in eight days. Including the game played against UNC, Kentucky has lost three of their last four games with all three losses coming to nationally ranked teams and the reason why they've dropped out of the polls.

We have seen some good play out of everyone, but Randolph Morris has shown why if you feed him the ball, he's gonna score. Even in the three losses Morris was an important factor - shoot, he is Kentucky's most important factor to each game. Morris flirts with a double double nearly every game and he just came off a near perfect game against UNC. He's averaging a team high 17 ppg and 7.9 rpg, and he's shooting 62% - by far the best on the team with 40 or more attempts. He's been consistent through the seven games so far including when they struggled against Memphis which is why I hand out the November Game Blog Award to him. When you know you don't have to worry about Randolph Morris' production on the court even when things aren't going your way and when the team shows signs of fatigue from a long stretch of games, it makes, one, Tubby Smith's job a little easier, and two, it makes the fans not worry so much anymore about a guy who's finally beginning to play up to everyone's expectations.

November Game Blog Award: Randolph Morris, for his game vs Memphis.
